Summary:
The World Health Organization (WHO) defines ageism as stereotypical, biased, and discriminatory attitudes toward people based on age. Changing people's understanding, social behavior, and political resolve about age and aging is possible and necessary to promote healthy aging, the ability of all people to live long and healthy lives, and to do what they have reason to value. The development of anti-ageism interventions is increasingly seen as an essential component of healthy aging. Numerous studies convincingly demonstrate the relevance of gerontological ageism and the need for efforts to overcome it, which will help to identify a set of basic ideas that can help change public understanding, reaching a more age-integrated society.
Keywords ageism, geriatrics, cardiovascular disease
