Summary:
Chronic lymphovenous insufficiency is a pathology not only of the venous system, but a pathological condition of the body as a whole. It significantly disrupts hemostasis, microcirculation, micro- and macrohemodynamics, mineral metabolism, oxidation-reduction processes, and enzymatic and hormonal activity. Chronic lymphovenous insufficiency develops gradually, affecting not only the venous, arterial, and lymphatic systems, but also the microcirculatory system. This leads to irreversible anatomical changes. Involvement of the lymphatic system gradually leads to disruption of the lymphatic capillary valve apparatus and the development of persistent edema. To prevent the progression of the disease, it is necessary to use treatment that is appropriate to the severity of the disease, assessing any associated pathologies, and specifically addressing internal factors and the relevant pathogenesis. This helps effectively reduce the severity of clinical manifestations and prevent disease progression. In elderly patients, the clinical manifestation and development of this pathology occurs more rapidly, as many of them have comorbidities.
