Oral health, according to experts, is one of the main foundations of overall human health. Almost every person has or previously had some kind of disease in the oral cavity. Official WHO statistics state that approximately 98% of people worldwide suffer from inflammatory diseases of periodontal tissue. There is an inextricable connection between somatic diseases and diseases of the oral cavity. But inflammatory diseases in the oral cavity also affect the formation of taste sensitivity. A team of authors (Mogilev V.A., Proshchaev K.I.) developed a questionnaire to identify hypo- and dysgesia in age-related oral cavity syndrome, which examines the influence of common somatic diseases and the hygienic state of the oral cavity on the perception of taste in elderly and senile people. The SNAQ taste questionnaire was also used in the work. The creation of a questionnaire allows us to analyze the influence of various somatic diseases and the dental hygiene index on the formation of taste sensitivity in elderly and senile people. This makes it possible to establish the relationship between the patient’s health status, the condition of the oral cavity and the quality of taste perception. To date, a survey of 90 patients has been conducted, a statistical analysis of the results obtained has been carried out, and conclusions have been drawn.
