Palliative care is an important component of healthcare and was designated as an independent type of medical care by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation in 2011. It is a complex of medical interventions aimed at alleviating suffering and pain, as well as improving the quality of life of terminally ill citizens. The basic principles of palliative care are to prioritize quality of life over duration. Instead of focusing on prolonging the patient's life, the focus is on reducing suffering and achieving maximum comfort and independence for the patient. Since etiopathogenetic treatment of palliative patients is impractical, it has become necessary to develop alternative methods to improve the quality of life of such patients.
