Summary:
The number of elderly people is steadily growing every year. With an increase in the age of patients and the spread of infectious diseases, there is a tendency to increase the prevalence of this group of diseases in the elderly. It seems relevant to increase the commitment to vaccination of elderly and senile people. Due to the fact that patients of this age category have low adherence to vaccination, as well as morbid background burdened with other diseases, complications of infectious diseases manifest themselves much more often in comparison with other groups of patients. The article discusses the general pathogenetic mechanisms of the formation of the immune response and the deterioration of the main geriatric syndromes. A literature review was conducted aimed at identifying the relationship between vaccination and deterioration of geriatric status in elderly and senile people.
Keywords vaccinology, vaccination, immune response.
