Summary:
Acute or worsening of chronic back pain is one of the most common reasons for seeking medical attention. Although in most patients the pain syndrome is stopped with minimal treatment, a correct assessment of the identified symptoms will allow not to miss a pathology that is not associated with damage to the musculoskeletal system of a degenerative nature - the so-called secondary diseases. Correct, timely and reasonable diagnosis of the cause of the pain syndrome will allow not only finding the true cause of the disease, but also choosing the right treatment for this patient. This article presents the main "red flags" that will allow both primary care physicians and physicians of narrower specialties to think about the possible "specific" cause of pain syndrome and begin a more in-depth diagnosis in relation to a particular patient.
Keywords dorsopathy, red flags, pain, specific, secondary, malignancy, fracture, infection.
