Summary:
The prevalence of osteoarthritis has increased by 48% over the past few years, which is associated with untimely diagnosis of joint pathology and aging of the population generally. Increasingly, osteoarthritis affects not only people of older age groups, but also young people. The urgency of the problem of detecting osteoarthritis, despite the development of modern methods, is only increasing. Periods of exacerbation associated with reactive inflammation of the joint and the recurrent nature of the disease are changed by periods of rest, when complaints are minimal. Such a course of pathology development gives a negative opportunity for a person to delay contacting a specialist and miss the important time for early diagnosis of osteoarthritis. The article presents the main types of diagnostic methods for the study of osteoarthritis, their capabilities and effectiveness, substantiates the advantages and disadvantages of a particular type of study over another, emphasizes the importance of early detection of the disease for differential diagnosis and treatment at the stages of the asymptomatic course of the disease.
Keywords osteoarthritis, joint, instrumental diagnostics, radiography, magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasound, arthroscopy.
