Nowadays the problem of hypermobility and the risk of fractures in elderly people is one of the most urgent among many geriatric syndromes. The vast majority of people in older age groups have several concomitant chronic diseases that increase the risk of fractures and other injuries due to falls. The article presents the main factors leading to a decrease in mobility and functional activity, emphasizes the importance of an adequate motor regime in prolonging a person's life, the need to maintain working capacity and self-service at a high level, the relationship between the state of the musculoskeletal system and the quality of life. Recommendations for the prevention of falls and minimization of adverse outcomes due to these events are given.
