The article deals with a relatively new field of practical psychology that addresses vitality. Vitality, or resilience, is the ability of an individual to employ personal adaptive mental resources to resist stresses. Elderly people possessing this quality do not only manage stress better but experience a meaningful life, which can prevent mental disorders associated with ageing. Resisting and denying inevitable changes coming with age, as well as lack of motivation and joyfulness, in elderly individuals can have negative consequences on their psychological condition and cognitive functions. Elderly clients constitute a large segment in the modern beauty and wellness industry. Many of them make an active effort to minimize aesthetic effects of ageing without paying attention to their psycho-emotional state. Knowledge about accessible methods of resilience psychology could become an important professional competence for beauty, spa, and wellness therapists treating elderly clients.
