Summary:
In the process of aging, the brain undergoes a number of natural involutive changes, as a consequence, a weakening of concentration of attention and memory. Cognitive dysfunction is one of the important problems in gerontology and the most common neurological disorder in which complex and coordinated work is needed to optimize the provision of medical care. Patients with cognitive impairments require an individual approach to their drug management, which causes them to have a history of polymorbidity, the use of several groups of drugs, and difficulties in mental adaptation due to the failure of the cognitive sphere. In this regard, it seems relevant to develop, scientifically substantiate, introduce into practice complex medical and social programs aimed at maintaining and improving the quality of life of the elderly and optimizing care for such patients in the early stages.
Keywords cognitive impairments, risk factors, gerontology, stroke, hypertension, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, dementia, old age.
