In recent years, the increase in life expectancy, the increase in the number of older people in society, the improvement of methods of diagnosis of cancer, which led to an increase in the number of people of older age groups who are diagnosed with hemoblastosis. The article shows that chronic forms of hemoblastosis predominate among patients of older age groups, and chronic lymphocytic leukemia prevails among patients older than 60 years. This form of hemoblastosis ranks third in the prevalence of all forms of hemoblastosis in the northwestern Federal district. In this study, these factors led to the choice of chronic lymphocytic leukemia as the main disease for further study of the characteristics of elderly and senile patients suffering from this form of hemoblastosis, in order to optimize the tactics of management of such patients.
