The purpose of the study was to examine the effectiveness of the optimized care system for patients of older age groups with neurological and neurosurgical pathology, based on modern principles of specialized geriatric services. As a result, it was proved that in the optimization of care for patients of older age groups with neurological and neurosurgical diseases at the stage of the diagnostic process should be to eliminate the age limitation of the use of neuroimaging techniques, and to provide specialized geriatric examination. In relation to age-based treatment it is important not only to ensure a competent therapy / rehabilitation of the main neurological and neurosurgical pathology, but also assess the impact on the following key parameters specific for elderly patients: sleep disturbances, cognitive deficit syndrome disorders of movement, downs syndrome, nutritional deficiency syndrome bedsores. In assessing the effectiveness of the provision of care for older people with neurological and neurosurgical diseases it is advisable to use the methods of specialized geriatric examination to assess the dynamics of the main geriatric syndromes, causing the vital functions of the patient's elderly.
